Emotions.
They're at the core of everything. Well… almost everything.
Software is something that largely lacks emotion, in my opinion. It's made to be like a tool, only used for function, with no innovation or thought into the emotions evoked when used.
Yesterday, I broke this down into something very simple and easy to remember.
Emotion = Care = Time
It's a simple equation that means a lot to me.
Emotions come from care. When you have emotions about something, you usually care about it to some degree.
To me, care is the time that you put into something. When you care about someone, you spend time with them. When you care about a hobby, you spend time doing it.
The reason most software lacks emotion is that people don't care. They don't spend time trying to create something pleasant to use because it is viewed as a boring tool.
Because of this, I decided that I wanted to create software with emotions.
As I thought about this, I stumbled across an app called Alcove, an app that makes the MacBook notch useful like Dynamic Island on iPhone. After purchasing the app, I found that Alcove had a Discord server. I joined and found a community of amazing people that I still love interacting with today. As I spent time in this community, I connected with one member in particular. His username was "Error," and he reached out asking if I could make him a better logo. I happily agreed, and thus began our friendship.
Fast forward a couple of months later, and I pitched this idea to Error. I talked with him and mentioned wanting to develop Mac apps. I told him that I wished I knew someone who knew Swift. He said he would look into it and started learning it that day.
Today, we now own an LLC under the name of "Loop'd," a company dedicated to creating software with emotions. Over time, our team has expanded and is slowly but surely creating some beautiful projects that I cannot wait to share with the world.
I'm super happy to be a part of this and make my idea come true. With our team, I feel more than confident that we can accomplish anything we set our minds to, creating products this world has never seen before. With that, it's time to get back to work.
